Good Show

What're we looking at?
Hane, loving that Balenciaga on you. The bag, the Valentino, the cane, the no-fuss hair...
from STREETFSN

I'm thinking of doing an interview again with STREET FSN's Nam. Last time I talked to Nam was probably two years ago, when he was starting to get some good footing in the scene. His photographs now are awfully exciting and every bit the collection of  photographs you'd expect from the best of today's street style photographers. But it's not just the fact that I do follow his blog and have had the privilege to interview him before that makes me say he's one of the better street style bloggers and photographers out there. There is a lightness and surge of inspiration I always feel after seeing his photos. That and more I'd love to explore and learn about from Nam himself (fingers crossed). While I piece together an interview in my head, I oblige you to take inspiration from the beautiful people he takes photos of. And enjoy your weekend!

Sean & Garrett

Garrett: Mmmmmm.... Sean: I still hate balloons

It's supposed to be Great-Looking Friday today, but instead I opted to post a black and white photo of two of the most brilliant faces in the male modeling world by Jules Schratter. To your left---that is if you haven't been to this blog before, is Garrett Neff and to your right is Sean O'pry.

I'd want to know what they're talking about. Why Garrett's worried or bothered by something and why Sean's teeth are so white. Ever wondered what models talk about? Back in the days I believed models were seen as good-looking airheads, but thanks to technology (YouTube and those other platforms) it seems that models of today are not only well-traveled, but are also quite witty and having wit takes a certain sense of timing and know how and brains. Airheads can't do that.

One day, really, I'd sit down with these two and shower them with questions, but looking at their ways on video, I just might end up talking with them instead of interviewing them about all these unimaginable things. Jules, I'm waiting for that one last question and then it's a GO for our Salt exclusive. The man's extra kind, you should know that, and his photos are always such a pleasure to look at.

To Garrett, Sean and Jules, God bless your souls sterling men.

And to myself, well, I'm off to do one of my last few requirements for school. Just a short update, I've been given a new assignment by someone... So I've got three projects in store for me in the very, very near future: One I'm going to on Monday, two is promised to happen next week and the third one, I'm not so sure yet of its date, but I got the e-mail.
So...Wish me luck you guys and have a great weekend ahead of you. Japan, I'm still praying...

Great-Looking Friday

AJ Abualrub looking elegant, neat and way too pretty for Chic Magazine

As a joke, I told my friends after having our Ash Wednesday mass that I'd most likely give up oggling at great-looking people as a sacrifice. But I understand that if there's one thing you see in people that will remind you of God's super powers, it's seeing it in beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, praise the Lord beautiful people. Now, you hardcore religious friends don't panic! I am just as God-fearing as you are and have opted to give something more for the entire lent. And no, that's not Starbucks.

Leaving our spirituality aside, welcome to my new Salt special: Great-Looking Friday!!!! Every Friday, I'll be posting pictures of the best looking people I could find just to make everyone happy...And to prove that (well, we're coming back to God) physical beauty is one of the finest gifts God has given us (among a bagillion of other things).

Have a great weekend. Great looks appreciation starting NOW.

My favorite picture of Blake Lively for Chanel

Mr. Handsome Ben Hill for Gardeur

Something about...

Men of Paris

There's something about France, especially Paris that feels and looks like they know the secrets of beauty. There's always New York of course, and our very own pretty Spanish Manila, and I've never been to Paris, but there's something about them that's only comparable to Paris itself. It might be the elegance, the careful study of style and beauty or just the romance that's always paired with the city...
Someday real soon, I'll walk those streets.

The Future

The original Thomas Crown Affair

After running, I took a bath and in my head pressed rewind from minutes prior to turning on the faucet to my first glimpse of day in the morning, and I thought, well, I'm this close to the future and what have I got to do.
Of course I aim to be a writer. For me, it doesn't matter what I'm writing about, just as long as I get to write great material. The money, will of course find its way into my life...But what I really, really want to do is write.

Now, I am faced with life changing options. After college I plan to apply for a magazine job here and if I do make it great, then I wouldn't have to move back to America. My sister and I were born there and my mom has sort of conditioned us that the future is in fact in America. But since we're pretty much comfortable here and educated to pursue a future in our own country (besides we're pure Filipinos anyway) my sister and I believe a good life here is always possible.
Still, I'm thinking about my options and keeping my door to the future as open as I could. I keep praying to God that he'd hopefully slap me with a big fat sign that says "choose this instead of that." Despite my ways, I still am a big Catholic kid and I have always believed in God's surprising ways. And I never expected that today, he'd finally give it to me.

Days ago, I posted something I saw on Valet Magazine on my fashion blog THE EDGE. Of course I had to post it cause it involved two things I really love: sunglasses and Steve McQueen. Basically it was all about classic Persol sunglasses inspired by McQueen's very own, worn in the original The Thomas Crown Affair. And Persol will be launching a line inspired by the movie icon next month. Anyway, I never knew that that short post had sewed its way into one of The Boston Globe's editor's laptops. So, he e-mailed me. Hours ago. Asking me if I wanted to do some writing for my own and that he'd hook me up with someone related to the iconic movie The Thomas Crown Affair. Someone very important. I told him it'd be great but then I was here in Manila and it was impossible to do a face-to-face interview with that someone he wanted me to talk to. He told me I ought to let them know when I'd be back in the US. So we both agreed to do an e-mail Q&A. I'm having my fingers crossed that I'd pull through with this story. If it fails, then it'll all be good.

What I value here is the sign. I am happy God has showed me where to head for my future. To that Boston Globe editor, thank you. God bless your sweet soul. And of course, thank God for this. The most surprising thing is, every single time I get big news (of course news that are very important to me) I feel smaller and actually threatened. I expected that I'd be proud of it all. But I'm not. I just keep telling myself that these are all blessings...And I actually feel more pressured to be my best and do the best. Well, I guess it's off to the United States of America after college.
I'll keep praying for that...
And of course, I'll keep praying that hopefully, all of us would be real influential people in the near, near future. Wouldn't that be the coolest if all of us would be featured in one of TIME's future issues featuring their 100 most influential? That'd be a dream come true.

Steve McQueen, you have just turned my James Dean relationship shaky.
